Benn is a BA Hons Geography graduate from the University of Brighton and is currently studying MA in International Security degree at Sussex University. He has an innate passion for working with young people and as a result, he has volunteered at charities before and throughout his degree. He transferred this passion in working in our talent acquisition team where he enjoys the opportunity to chat to candidates to help them find what’s best for them, and employers to find the right person for the right role.
Prior to this, Benn spent four months travelling across South America enjoying various cultures and meeting different types of people.
What’s it like to work at Youthforce?
“Youthforce is open and communicative. You can seek help and guidance from other teams because the environment is relaxed, but the targets and structure are still there. It’s a great atmosphere because you can have a laugh and nobody feels dissuaded about asking questions.
I am responsible for designing the apprenticeship programmes with the clients, ensuring the client is engaged in designing a bespoke training structure and content. I also run the enrolment process. I try to ensure all apprenticeship programmes are started properly – as the first few weeks are vital. Furthermore, I run our Account Management service; checking in with mentors to ensure all in-flight programmes are running as they should.
The thing I enjoy most about the role is getting out of the office to meet clients, help the tutor team, and meet learners.
I’ve been with Youthforce for almost 2 years now. I started as a full-time member, then part-time so that I could complete my Master’s degree, then full time again. I did data entry at first, but I liked the sound of the telephone interviews and got involved in Talent Acquisition. I then pivoted to Programme Design. When I switched to part-time to do my masters, Youthforce kept me on and were very flexible – I’ve always appreciated it.”
