Brief overview of the role

Sagari Ltd are looking for a business admin apprentice to join their ever expanding team; we would like this person to gain experience in most areas of the business so that they can gain a wider understanding of business administration whilst providing a support to the office manager and director.

Vacancy description

Office administrator responsibilities:

  • answering the telephone
  • ordering stationery and furniture
  • dealing with correspondence, e-mails, and queries
  • preparing letters and marketing literature
  • liaising with staff, suppliers, and clients
  • ensuring that health and safety policies are up-to-date
  • using a range of software packages
  • attending meetings with office manager where required
  • assisting the organisation’s HR function by keeping personnel records up-to-date, arranging interviews, and so on
  • arranging travel, accommodation, and meetings
  • updating ISO documentation
  • creating invoices in office manager’s absence
  • collating ‘ticket’ information with the technical team
  • chasing overdue invoices
  • doing post office/bank runs
  • answering sales calls and appointment setting
  • ad-hoc administration tasks as set by the managing director
  • managing the CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • experience of working as part of a team in a flexible and cooperative manner
  • intermediate knowledge of MS Windows and Office software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • good standard of written English with the ability to draft, layout, and format reports, correspondence, and documents; good understanding of grammar and spelling
  • good typing skills – ideally touch typing
  • organised approach, attentiveness to detail, and good planning skills
  • ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • ability to maintain confidentiality of information and discretion when handling sensitive information

Desired qualifications

The preferred candidate will have achieved a grade C/4 or higher in GCSE (or equivalent) English and maths, or Functional Skills Level 2.

In some cases, consideration may be given to candidates who lacks these qualifications though has considerable experience in a relevant sector; however this is at the discretion of the employer.

Future prospects

Learners can progress onto the Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship in Business & Professional Administration, further or higher education to undertake business related or other qualifications, a range of business and management undergraduate programmes or other business professional qualifications at level 4 and above.

Successful apprentices may also continue in their job role and undertake a range of professional job-specific qualifications and training with the possibility of a promotion.
