Business Administration – Language Studies International Ltd – Brighton

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • To assist the Academic Manager and Administration Manager and administrative staff of LSI Brighton in regular administration tasks concerned with students, classes, home stay providers and the marketing and promotion of the school
  • To assist the Principal and Manager of the school with the co-ordination of development projects
  • To assist the Principal of the school with the co-ordination of marketing programmes and projects

You will also work in the following areas:

Student Services

  • To provide “front of house” customer service to students, accommodation providers and callers in the school receptions and on the telephone
  • To prepare student arrival information and student welcome packs for new students and to assist with student arrival and welcome events
  • To co-ordinate the collection of first week and exit feedback from students
  • To take excursion and activity bookings from students and to assist with the promotion of the school’s social programme
  • To make up and distribute student exit packs for those who are leaving the school
  • To record and analyse student feedback on the school’s programmes and services

School Administration and Accounts:

  • To make student enrolment bookings onto the school’s information systems
  • To make host family bookings onto the school’s information systems
  • To produce and send documents to agents, students and host families
  • To assist with host family payments
  • To assist with petty cash records and to prepare tickets and allowances for groups
  • To assist with accounting and finance record keeping and communications
  • To assist with office organisation and the organisation of supplies and services

Study Programmes:

  • To assist the Academic Manager in maintaining the School’s Self Access facilities, including loans of materials
  • To assist with the organisation of teaching materials and the production of academic documentation such as class lists and registers
  • To assist the Academic Manager in maintaining class and attendance information systems
  • To assist with the running of any satellite premises and room hires

School Environment and Facilities:

  • To help maintain and develop the school’s environment by updating and developing notice boards and displays
  • To assist in the smooth running of the school’s buildings and facilities including the sourcing of supplies, assisting with IT maintenance, classroom furniture movement and maintaining the school environment
  • To help maintain and develop the school’s “Study in the UK” and “UK/European Tourism” libraries

Marketing and Promotion:

  • To answer and follow up enquiries made to the school but prospective students or their representatives
  • To undertake mystery shopping exercises and competitor and price research
  • To ensure that all functions of our websites are working properly
  • To make-up and dispatch mailings to recruitment agents and prospective students and agents

Websites and Social Media:

  • To extend and update the content of the Schools and LSI UK’s student “life in the UK” website
  • To assist with the social media strategy of LSI Brighton and the other LSI schools
  • To record and analyse the statistics relating to visitors to our websites

Other Duties:

  • To perform other duties that the management of the school requires

Training Provided

  • Level 2 Certificate in Business and Administration

If you haven’t already achieved a C or above in Maths, English and ICT at GCSE level you will be required to complete;

  • Level 1 Functional Skills Maths
  • Level 1 Functional Skills English
  • Level 1 Functional Skills ICT

Skills Required

  • Experience of working as part of a team in a flexible and cooperative manner
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Windows & Office software including WORD, EXCEL and Outlook
  • Good standard of written English with the ability to draft, layout & format reports, correspondence & documents; good understanding of grammar & spelling
  • Good typing skills – ideally touch typing
  • Organised approach, attentiveness to detail and good planning skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • A good work attendance record, with no health problems likely to impact adversely on performance in post
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information & discretion when handling sensitive information

Qualifications Required

The preferred candidate will have finished their GCSE or other skills qualifications in English and Maths, though consideration will be given to highly-motivated young people willing to achieve a qualification in Functional Skills (English, Maths & ICT) at Levels 1 & 2.

Future Prospects

The Apprenticeship pathway will prepare learners to progress to the Advanced Apprenticeship Progression to Level 3. Advanced Apprenticeship will also enable learners to move to higher levels of work or enable learners to work unsupervised (e.g. Team Leader, Account Manager).
