Junior IT Support Analyst Apprentice – GS1 UK Ltd

Brief overview of the role

The Junior Support Analyst will work closely with the IS team and business as an enthusiastic, customer focused apprentice on our support desk. A person who, with specific training and mentorship, can help address GS1 UK’s expanding needs, particularly around device management, MS 365, unified communications and VMware support.

Job Purpose:

  • The Junior Support Analyst will support the efficient running and fault resolution of all device hardware, software and conferencing facilities.
  • Work closely with the existing IS team to ensure smooth implementation of new projects and capability.
  • Work with the existing IS team together to define standards for operating system and application versions in use across the business
  • Procure and provision ancillary items and mobile phones
  • Provision and build technical equipment, ensuring correct operation of software

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a high-class customer focused service provision to colleagues
  • Log and assign support cases within the IS team
  • Support case resolution and escalations
  • Ensure that any purchases are cost effective whilst maintain consistency across the business
  • Research potential purchases and effectively calculate costs
  • Research and suggest new and relevant initiatives for the team
  • Helpdesk and ticket management
  • Meeting room and UC monitoring and support
  • VMware and infrastructure monitoring and support
  • O365 administration, monitoring and support

Desired qualifications

Essential:

  • Minimum A level education in technology related subject(s)
  • Employment experience in a customer focused role with ability to provide strong references

 

Desirable:

  • Experieice in a similar position with responsibility for device and conferencing facilities
  • Knowledge of infrastructure, Cloud and IAAS strategies
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft cloud applications e.g. Office365
  • Knowledge of conferencing facilities such as Polycom and Skype for Business
